Professional Experience:

Mark J. Richards is a tax partner at Ice Miller LLP with over 33 years of experience in the area of taxation, with an emphasis on Indiana taxation. Mark is the chair of Ice Miller's Tax Practice Group. Mark has extensive experience in dealing with audits, appeals, changes in tax policy and tax regulations, and numerous other matters with the Indiana Department of Revenue on income tax, sales tax and other tax matters, as well as dealing with the Department of Local Government Finance, Indiana Board of Tax Review, and local taxing units on property tax issues. Mark also has extensive litigation experience on Indiana tax matters in the Indiana Tax Court and Indiana Supreme Court, as well as experience on Indiana tax disputes in the Indiana trial courts and the Indiana Court of Appeals. Mark also drafts legislation and testifies before the Indiana General Assembly on matters of Indiana taxation.

Mark is a frequent speaker and writer on Indiana taxation. Mark serves on the Advisory Board as well as writes articles for State Tax Notes, is the past chair of the Tax Policy Committee of the Indiana Chamber of Commerce and the Tax Section of the Indianapolis Bar Association. Mark is a 25+ year member of the Tax Committees of the Indiana Chamber of Commerce and Indiana Manufacturer’s Association, and a member of the state tax committees of the American Bar Association and the Indiana Bar Association.
